Tillie's Story
The Jacob Weikert Farm was used as a Union Army field hospital in July 1863 during the Battle of Gettysburg.
Approximately 750-900 soldiers were treated at the property during the battle. The wounded received medical assistance
in the home, barn and yard. Tillie Pierce was an 15 year old girl sent to the farm to escape the fighting in the town.
She could never have predicted the experiences she would have and sights that would be ingrained in her memory.
The historic PA bank barn is now home to Tillie's Treasures, a quaint 3 room shop
in the lower level of the barn.

Tillie's complete story is recorded in her diary: At Gettysburg, or What a Girl Saw and Heard of the Battle. Copies of this book are
available at the shop for $14.00.
